EHS TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

We currently have a requirement for an EHS Technical Specilaist to join our EHS & Quality Systems. The purpose of this role is to maintain the health, safety and environmental management systems ensuring they meet the requirements of applicable H&S and Environmental legislation. Also, to provide technical expertise in these systems to the overall business.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop, review and implement health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure they are adequate to manage key hazards in the business and reflect new and existing legislation in relation to equipment and machinery
  • Provide expert direction, advice, training and guidance to colleagues
  • Provide support as required during external audits and investigations so that business objectives are achieved
  • Organise and conduct routine monitoring and audits, reporting on and taking action on any non-compliance in relation to machinery and equipment
  • Produce and deliver accurate, reliable reports  using the relevant system at the level appropriate for the intended audience
  • Provide support where required on relevant business projects and Initiatives to ensure Health & Safety statutory obligations are met
  • Coordinate activity to ensure systems are in place to retain certification in applicable H & S Standards
  • Proactively seek out development opportunities by learning and attending training courses to ensure that department has right skills to deliver business needs
  • Proactively pursue continuous improvement opportunities within the established Bespak Health& Safety processes.

ESSENTIAL KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • Relevant industry qualification in appropriate Technical applications i.e. Machinery Maintenance and/or Health and Safety  experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation specially PUWER 1998
  • Excellent communication, reporting and inter-personal skills, to enable the job holder to influence at all levels in the organisation, visitors, contractors and regulatory bodies

 

DESIRABLE KEY ATTRIBUTES:

  • NEBOSH Diploma /Certificate
  • Trained in IOSH Audit techniques
